90 hp Yamaha outboard has a alarm going off, it is full of oil. The alarm just starts a different times,?
Lori H asked:
Sometimes idle, any slow and somtimes while cruising. When playing outside derater also gives a kick inside, then In a little while speed to a minimum may or may not give To kick off. If gives a kick out of it work very well For an hour or so, do not know why. The water leaves the hole in the side, but Sometomes to stop the idle, so I think the water pump APPROVAL could be, not sure of anything really. The Hope someone has suggestions. The water pump is the last year New

An outboard sounds like the pumps impeller is worn replace the weakest link on an outboard sounds like the whole pump assmbly most people cheap out and just change the pumps.
agreed, it sounds like worn impeller. I had a 40hp Johnson that would do the same thing (overheat alarm at odd times) that tended to occur after first good run and then coming off plane. Turns out the slime and sludge of running in silty water had seriously weakened the water pump/impeller assembly.
